Alexandra Dance Academy

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are classes held?

All classes are downstairs at Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley (22500 SE 248th Street).

How do I register for classes?

You can register online through Maple Valley Parks and Recreation (click HERE) or call Parks and Recreation at 425-432-9953. Any questions about approprate class placement for your child can be directed to Miss Alex.

Are parents allowed to watch class?

Absolutely! There are always chairs available for parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. to observe class. However, parents are not required to stay for dancers ages 4 and up -- it is completely up to you.

I missed registration for the current session...when does the next session begin?

There are three sessions each calendar year: Fall (September-mid December), Winter (January-early April), and Spring (Mid-April-June). If you would like to be included on the Alexandra Dance Academy e-mail list to receive reminders and updates about registration and class schedules, e-mail Miss Alex.

Where can I buy ballet/tap shoes for my dancer?

Many dance families have luck finding ballet and tap shoes at Payless ShoeSource. You can also purchase shoes at a local dancewear store (such as Dance Trendz in Kent) or online through Discount Dance or Amazon.

Will there be a recital at the end of the session? What is the cost?

Miss Alex will notify you if there will be a recital at the end of the dance session. If so, each class will perform one dance in the recital (the dance genre will be chosen by the teacher). Recitals are held at local elementary/middle schools, based on availablity. The cost to participate is $20 and covers the cost of the costume, to be provided by Miss Alex.

Is it okay if my child doesn't have any prior dance experience?

Absolutely!
